As I was driving down the road the other day, I had an ephiany.
I love summer.
When this realization hit me, I was feeling so tired after a weekend of sleeping (or not sleeping as was the case that first night) in a dorm room full of ladies of all ages, working in the heat & humidity as we shared food and labor with others, and exerting energy as we completed challenges on a ropes course.
Despite the fact that all I wanted at that moment was to crawl into my bed and sleep, I was struck with the fact that I love this time of year.
I love the freedom to go and the lack of rigid schedules.
I love the warmth of the sun as we spend more time outside…especially when there is that slight breeze blowing. Bliss.
I love the gathering of friends and family and strangers (who become friends) as we travel to camps, mission trips, swim meets, and training sessions.
I love the moments when our family gets to slip away for a little time together and break from the every day.
I love that our school time consists of reading books…lots & lots of books.
Summer is here. And I am totally loving this time of year.
The pictures above are from our Memorial Day weekend mini-vacay. Since we returned home from that, life has been a flurry of washing clothes & repacking, a swim meet and practices, a birthday, and saying good-bye (for now) to our former pastor. Then it was on to a family mission trip weekend where we worked at a food pantry ministry as well as helped prep a campground for their summer ministries. It’s been a few busy & emotional weeks but I am so thankful for every single moment & memory we’ve had!
