Our homeschool week {the week of memories}

This past school week, we had a renewed energy after a week of spring break.  And it was a good thing because we started the week off by jumping in with both feet!

On Monday, we were finishing up our mini vacation at the lake.

Tuesday morning started with our oldest leaving bright and early for the driving portion of his driver’s ed class.  I snapped a picture of him leaving from the kitchen window.  Didn’t want to embarrass him make him nervous with a camera all in his face as he drove away.  And he did great - passed with flying colors and is ready to get that driver’s permit (and was completely worn out after driving for 2 hours every day hence the nap which he never ever takes…)  You’ll just have to pardon my momma tears…when did my baby get so big?!?

Tuesday was also a sad day for us as we said good-bye to Max our sweet kitty of almost 10 years.  I sure miss him keeping my side of the bed warm.

Our oldest daughter had an exciting week.  She got to start the next level of Math using Teaching Textbooks (pics 1 & 2).  She also passed the church Bible drill!  (study materials in pic 4)  One thing I love about our Emma is that she gathers flowers to make centerpieces for our dining table (pic 3).  April 8, 20134-001

{learning with the littles}

I have loved our years of having little ones to teach at home.  Next year all of our kids will be school aged.  All.of.them.  No more preschoolers.  Kinda bittersweet, ya know?

So I’m soaking up every ounce of learning fun with the littles that I can before they hit algebra.  So when she asked to make doughnuts…I said YES!

And when they asked to set up a grocery store, I said SURE!  Because a whole lot of learning happens when the littles play.  And algebra will be here before you know it…

But we never forget our reading, writing, and arithmetic…

April 3, 20131 *There’s a post coming about that checklist on my clipboard above.  Be sure to check back this week to learn about our new homeschooling system.

And that is a glimpse at our week of great memories…some good, some wonderful, some new, and some sad.  I am thankful for our days together as a homeschooling family and for the memories we will carry with us forever.
