focused on {health}

2013 word of the year

My word of the year for 2013 is focus.

The focus for January was on routines.

We will still be working to establish consistent routines during the month of February until they become more second-nature to us.

The month of February will also bring about a focus on my health

As I get older, I am seeing my body start to weaken and am noticing more aches & pains.  This week I stumbled across this blog and I could have written most of what she has posted in dark letters.  I am only 41 years old and have many of those same problems.

So this month the focus will be on working towards a healthier me.  I’m not going to focus on the scale but I hope that I will eventually see changes there.  However, I am going to make changes that I hope will improve my overall health.  I want to be a healthy mom for my kids

Focus goals for the month of February:

  • Drink more water (About 80+ oz a day)
  • Reduce soda intake ( I want to eliminate this but I am so weak.)
  • Focus on eating a real/whole foods diet.  (I don’t eat a lot of processed food.  Well, if you don’t count the soda, that is.  But I want to incorporate more veggies and fruits while reducing processed foods and sugar.)
  • Walk 5 times a week.

I hope to have a better idea of what the real/whole foods diet will look like for me and how that is going to fit into feeding a large family on a budget.  Hopefully, Monday’s menu post will show how that is going to work for us.
