Losing Adriane do-overs (week 1)

The word “do-overs” cracks me up.  It’s a word we use in Bunco when someone needs to “do” their roll again.

Anyway, on to the real business at hand.  ~smile~

Monday morning starts my Losing Adriane do-overs.  I will check in on Sunday nights and let everyone in cyber world know if I’m sticking to my guns this time.  Yep, you are my accountability.

So here are the details of the Losing Adriane do-overs:

  • Big Goal

Ultimately, I need to lose 43+ pounds to be in my healthy weight range.

  • Monthly Goal

To fit into these white cropped pants that I got at Goodwill.  I would like to be able to wear them on my 40th birthday.  They are my size but a mite snug.  I’d love to wear them with this green top that I got at Goodwill also but it might take a bit longer to fit into it.

  • Food Tracking Goal

The plan is to track my food daily on My Fitness Pal.  My Fitness Pal is a free site so I encourage you to check it out if you need to track your food.

  • Eating Goals

My Fitness Pal calculated that I need to eat 1510 calories a day.  I also plan to reduce my carb intake.  Most of my carbs will come from veggies, fruits, and a few whole grains.

  • Exercise Goals

Besides resuming Jillian Micheals’ 30 Day Shred, I plan on following the Couch25K plan for 3 days a week.   Total days of exercise for the week:  at least five.

A few months back, I bought the book Fit for My King.  The author suggests a 30 day fast from the following things:

  • White sugar
  • All artificial sweeteners (such as Splenda, Sweet N Low, Aspartame…)
  • Fake food (eating real food and avoiding processed foods)
  • White flour
  • White rice, potatoes, and corn
  • Buying foods you can’t eat (thus opening yourself to temptation to eat it)
  • Eating after 7:00 pm

There is even a covenant letter in the book to sign between oneself and God.  And I just couldn’t sign it.  I couldn’t.  I was sure that I would break the covenant.  It’s not that I’m planning on not losing this weight.  It’s just that I take the word “covenant” very seriously.  That sounds like a cop-out but I promise it’s not.  ~smile~

But I do know why I should avoid each of the things above.  So I’ve decided to do them one at a time.  Some are all ready accomplished.  For instance, I don’t do artificial sweeteners.  I use stevia but try to avoid these others.  (I may talk more on that later but if you’d like to know about the dangers of artificial sweeteners, a quick internet search will give you a good starting point.)  However, the no white sugar goal…that’s going to be a hard one.  So I’m starting with that one.

You have to start somewhere, right?  ~smile~

I don’t know if the sugar will be totally eliminated.  Even though I use stevia for sweetening sweet tea, I do not like it in my coffee.  Honey in my coffee does not sound appealing at all.  And I don’t do black coffee so sugar will be used sparingly to sweeten my coffee.

You can do it! I am right here with you. I got on the scale this morning and HOLY COW, I need to do something. I plan on getting back to tracking my Weight Watchers points tomorrow morning and getting some form of exercise in every day.
